Adventure racing is an expedition where a team of competitors rely only on their own strength and abilities carrying on various activities to traverse great and challenging terrain on the globe. Among the various types of sports events held throughout Japan, adventure racing is an ultimate outdoor sport which makes participants explore the great nature but without damaging it.

Extreme series 2012

Extreme series” is the first series of adventure races established in Japan.It comprises of 4 events in different venues. Each event is a one day race which makes people easy to participate. Also the racers will enjoy regional culture and nature of each course.

Extreme Winter Challenge 2012

Extreme Winter Challenge is another type of adventure racing competed on snow by a pair of racers. The racers are required to find the checkpoints traversing by snow shoe and cross country ski. Also, the racers will be confronted with a game called pair challenge (task to be worked together on snow & mysterious game on snow) on the way. It is not only challenging but also enjoyable even for beginners, just like hiking.

Extreme Series Concept

Extreme Series aim to vitalize local community of the region where events are organized.　Vitalization of local community can be achieved by development of the regional economy and independence and united efforts of the local community. The development of the regional economy relies upon tourism in a big portion which requires constant incoming of tourists. Nowadays, tourists do not visit local towns without purpose or objective. It means that each community needs to attract tourists by its originality and uniqueness.
The “extreme series” of adventure racing contain elements in which racers fully enjoy the unique nature and culture of the local community. The collaboration of the participants, the event staff, the local people and the local government has achieved the dynamism of the events. This new type of sport, adventure racing “extreme series” will continue discovering attractive parts of each region and assisting vitalization of the local community.
